This is one of the most magnificent places either of us has ever laid eyes on. Our pictures will not be able to give a fair representation to the beauty of this magical place. I think it should be enough to say that we would be very happy to do a return visit…tomorrow!
These first few pics are of the Natura Mystica, a 4 mile hike we did where the “Hollaleitisch” forest spirits converse with the humans via signs like this one set up along the trail

Grossglockner Glacier – this valley used to be filled with glacier. Just one of the many glaciers we saw on this trip. All were receding.

Detailed woodworking defined many of the houses in the area

Heiligenblut Church- Set in remembrance of Saint Vincent, the angel who collected a chalice of Jesus’ blood while on the cross. Below is a pic from the church grounds overlooking the valley below. Some of the grave sites date back to the 1250’s.

In the valley there was this amazing hike through the steep canyon with fern covered walls and rushing white water below
All I have left to say is that we can’t wait to go back to Austria!
